Cockroaches — Dream Meaning
Cockroaches are famously hard to get rid of and can survive almost anything. In waking life they are linked with dirt and dread, and in dreams they often represent persistent problems, feelings of disgust, and resilience. The strong reaction they cause is often the clue to the message.
Cockroaches in your home can mirror a problem you have tried to ignore that keeps coming back, or something "dirty" you feel ashamed of. The home represents the self, so intruders may reflect worries that something unwelcome has got into your private life.

Many cockroaches may mirror small problems multiplying, or a worry spreading from a single source.
Seeing one survive can be a symbol of your own resilience, surviving hard times when others might not.
Cockroaches appearing when the lights go on can reflect uncomfortable truths coming to light that were hidden in the dark.
A cockroach in food may point to a feeling that something nourishing has been spoiled.
Cleaning up after cockroaches can reflect a wish to put things right and regain control.
Cockroaches are ancient insects that have outlasted countless changes, which is why they sometimes stand for toughness as well as grime. Ask whether the feeling in the dream was disgust, fear or grudging respect.
What have you been putting off dealing with, and what would it feel like to turn the light on it?

FAQ
What does it mean to dream about cockroaches?
Cockroaches are famously hard to get rid of and can survive almost anything. In waking life they are linked with dirt and dread, and in dreams they often represent persistent problems, feelings of disgust, and resilience. The strong reaction they cause is often the clue to the message.
Is dreaming about cockroaches a bad sign?
Not necessarily. Dream symbol meanings in this tradition are rarely simply good or bad — cockroaches dreams are usually read through metaphor and the context of the dream (and your life) rather than as a straightforward omen. Treat the interpretation above as a starting point for reflection, not a prediction.
Why do I keep dreaming about cockroaches?
A recurring dream symbol often points to an ongoing situation, feeling, or unresolved question in waking life rather than a one-off detail. Traditional dream interpretation treats repetition as reinforcement of the symbol's core meaning — worth paying attention to, rather than a separate signal on its own.
